ショスタコーヴィッチが没した日（1975年）。旧ソビエト連邦の社会主義の歩みと彼の音楽人生は切り離すことができない。ストラヴィンスキーやベルクの影響を受け、前衛的な作風から始まり、やがて社会主義リアリズム、例えばロシア革命を主題にした作品を書いた。
